NewYork Independent Highland Volunteers
Anniversary Celebration

November 30th, 1779

Yesterday being the Anniversary of SAINT ANDREW, Tutelar Saint of Scotland, the Highland Volunteer Militia, in uniform, led by Capt. Norman TOLMIE, paid their compliments to his Excellency the Commander in Chief, and to the commandant, by whom they were received with great Politeness.

The Day was celebrated, and the Evening passed with the utmost Festivity, Mirth, and good Humor

Among the Parties that assembled to celebrate the Anniversary of St. Andrew, the Serjeants of the 42d Regiment dined and spent the Day together, with the greatest Chearfulness and Harmony;

They seperated with the utmost Decency and good Order, thereby expressing a high Respect, as well for their tutelar Saint, as the Royal Regiment in which they have the Honour of serving their Sovereign.
