Poulers Hook September 24th 1779.

Dear Brother,

I herewith inform you that I am healthy and well, but my wife ahs been poorly for some time having been afflicted with Violent Sore Eyes, but is getting better-

I have lost my youngest Child lately, after a very painful & Severe illness-

Concerning the times I can only inform you that large Reinforcements are come in lately with two different Fleets, and another Soon expected, and that a great Number of troops are gone on an Expedition, but where, as yet remains a Secret-

Lieutenant REYERSE is healthy & well and likewise our whole Battalion-

My love & respects to uncle George and Aunt Molly your wife & all good Friends and relations, and am with Esteem your
