Witness on behalf of Shadrack Ferman of Virginia

This is to Certify that I John McDONALD late Serjant of His Majesty’s 76th Regiment do Know the bearer Shadrick FERMAN when the British Army lay in Portmouth Commanded by General LESLIE, in Virginia, took up in the year 1781 two Spy’s from the Rebels by name Caleb Tigell and one Rose

& I was the Serjant sent by Capt: FRAZIER on Command to apprehend these persons, which was tried by a Court Martial, and Know the said FERMAN to belong to the said FRAZIERs Company of Pioneers,

Given under my Hand in Shelburne this 30th day of August in the year of our Lord One thousand seven hundred and Eighty seven.
