Loyal Refugee Volunteers
Return of McMichael

Bergen Point 9th April 1781

Sir

As your treatment of my Flag of the 6th Instant, under the direction of Lieut. McMICHAEL, is entirely unprecedented, contrary to the Laws of Nations & the Rules of War, and as my Flags have allways been received and treated with the Respect due to them; Must request that Lieut. McMICHAEL be immediately delivered or a certain time for his return fixed, if not within the immediate reach of this Flag, or that you would assign your Reasons in writing, why he is detained by return of this conveyance.

I am Sir
Your Huble. Svt.
