Loyal Refugee Volunteers
Cuyler to Ward

Sir

As the limitation of my Warrent from the Commander in Chief, to Embody a Regt. of Loyal Refugee Volunteers, was Expired, and not having Compleated any one Company for Muster, I reported to Major Genl. TRYON Commanding at Present the British Department whom informed me he was not Authorized to Order a Subsistance for any Company that might be Compleated hereafter, I therefore think proper to Notify to you to Suspend any further proceeding to Compleat your Company till I can have an Opportunity of the Opinion of the Commander in Chief on that Subject, in the mean time you may allow the men that have engaged to follow any Occupation they think proper for thier Subsistance.

A C CUYLER   Lt. Colo. Commandt.
