Recruiting Notice

Newport, March 8, 1777.

To all Gentlemen animated with the glorious Spirit of genuine liberty Enemies to Tyranny and Despotism, Friends to the best Constitution in the known World;

Now is offered the fairest Opportunity of manifesting their Loyalty to their most gracious Sovereign King George III, by entering into the Regiment of LOYAL RHODE-ISLANDERS, commanded by Colonel EDWARD COLE, who will receive them, by himself or his Officers, at the House of Mr. Robert LILLEBRIDGES, Innholder at Newport, upon the North Side of the Parade; where they shall be kindly entertained, enter into present Pay and good Quarters, for the Term of Two Years or during the present Rebellion.

And for the Encouragement of honest and faithful Subjects, each Volunteer shall receive FIVE DOLLARS Advance, with good Cloaths, Arms, Accoutrements, and every Thing necessary to compleat a Gentleman Soldier.
