Frederick HALDIMAND Captain General & Governor in Chief of the Province of Quebec & Territories depending thereon &c &c &c General & Commander in Chief of His Majesty’s Forces in said Province & Frontiers thereof &c &c &c.

To Henry YOUNG Gent.

BY VIRTUE of the power and authority in me vested I do hereby constitute & appoint you to be Lieutenant in the Second Battalion of the Kings Royal Regiment of New York Whereof Sir John JOHNSON Knight and Baronet is Lieutenant Colonel Commandant

you are therefore carefully and diligently to discharge the duty of Lieutenant by exercising and well disciplining both the inferior Officers and Soldiers of that Regiment and I do hereby command them to obey you as their Lieutenant

and you are to observe and follow such orders & directions as you shall from Time to Time receive from me, your Lieutenant Colonel Commandant or any other your superior Officer According to the rules and discipline of War;

In pursuance of the trust hereby reposed in you Given Under my hand and Seal at Arms at the Castle of St. Louis at Quebec this Sixteenth day of November One thousand Seven hundred & Eighty one & in the Twenty Second Year of the Reign of our Sovereign Lord George the third by the Grace of God of Great Britain, France & Ireland, King, Defender of the faith and so forth.
