Witness for Thomas Cumings of New Hampshire

To The Right Honorable The Lords Commissioners
of His Majesty's Treasury &c &c &c

At the request of Mr. Thomas CUMINGS I do hereby certify that I became acquainted with him in the month of October 1776, at which time he joined the British Army at Long Island and offered his services to the Commander in Chief through Governor WENTWORTH, under whose Government he had before lived, and who received him as a well attached subject to His Majesty, and recommended him to a Company in a Corps that was then to be raised by Major STARK, which afterwards being drafted into other Corps, Mr. CUMINGS joined a Body of Gentlemen from New Hampshire, called Governor Wentworth's Volunteers; and actually did service in the same until I left America in the year 1778.

And I do further declare that the foregoing facts are within my own knowledge having served in the said Corps and Governor WENTWORTH as Secretary both in and out of the Province of New Hampshire whose good opinion of Mr. CUMINGS as a faithful and loyal subject to the King, I have frequently heard him express.

B. WENTWORTH

Cork Street 28th of June 1785.
