humbly Sheweth

That your Memorialist was possessed of a farm in Broad Bay in the County of Lincoln, on which he had cleared above 40 Acres and endeavored to live peaceably with his Neighbors as the Seat of War was at a Distance, and he had a family which depended on him for Support-

That in June 1779 when Genl. McLEAN & Capt. BARKELY with his Majestys Forces took possession of Penobscot your Memorialist went up in a Vessel of which he owned one half and took the Oath of Allegiance afterwards returned to Broad Bay to prepare for a fishing Voyage-

That on his return his neighbors having heard of his proceedings made a prize of his Vessel & fishing Gear, and forced him to return to Penboscot where he enlisted into the Kings Rangers that he afterwards learnt that his Vessel was libeled and condemned at Pownalborough-

That his Cattle were seized by the Committee of the place and afterwards his Farm and rent was demanded from his Wife and Children for the time they lived on it before they remov’d to Penobscot.

That your Memorialist cannot return again to live thereon neither can he dispose of it to anyone as he can as yet procure no satisfactory account in whose hands it remains but will produce every necessary evidence at his Examination.

He therefore having annexed his Claim prays your Honors after examining the propriety thereof to order him such relief as to your Honors shall seem meet-
