This is to Certify that Mr. Thomas MANSON joined His Majestys Troops in the Province of Georgia in the year 1779, and was respected by all Officers and others as a faithfull Loyalist and Active Volunteer. That he received a Warrant to raise Recruits for the Roy. No. Car. Regt. In January 1781, in pursuance of which he raised upwards of Twenty men. In April following he was appointed Ensign in the said Roy. No. Car. Regt. In which Station he continued to Act, with the Approbation of his Commanding Officers and others with whom he served, untill the reduction of the Provincials at St. Augustine in October 1783, when he proceeded with part of the Corps to Nova Scotia. That Mr. MANSON was with his Family at Wilmington in North Carolina, when the regiment lay at the Time of the Evacuation thereof in November 1781, and that from the very Precipitated embarkation of that Garrison, there were but very few People but lost most of their Baggage and Effects, and I firmly believe that the account Mr. MANSON has made of his Losses there is Just & True.
