Major Figures
Mackenzie to DeLancey

Copy

Philadelphia 16th December 1777.

Sir,

By permission of Sir William HOWE, who is at this time most particularly engaged, I am to acknowledge the receipt of your Letter of the 28th November, and to express his feelings upon your enumerated Losses, but particularly upon the last, attended by so much personal distress to those whom the misfortunes of War should never reach-

You may expect to hear from him by the next opportunity, and I shall be happy to be the channel through which any thing may pass that can tend to recompence your Sufferings.

I have the Honor to be
Your most obedient
humble Servant
(Signed)   Robert MACKENZIE
