Nassau Blues
Tryon to Axtell, Assistance

New York 11th June 1779

The Commander in Chief having Signified to me, that he has appointed you to Raise a Regiment on Long Island, by Drafts from the different Counties, and desired my Assistance in completing it with all possible expedition.

I have accordingly wrote to the Commanding Officers of the different Counties to afford you every Assistance on your applying occasionally to them for that purpose.

The Drafts are not to be made from the Men already embodied in the several Troops of Light Horse; Unless a Troop of Light Horse is to be formed for your Regt. in that case they are to be drafted.

I am with Esteem,
Your most obedt. Servt.
Wm. TRYON Govr. &c
