McAlpin's Corps of Royalists
La Chine 20th. May 1779
I was honored with your Excellencys letter of the 17th. Inst. –
I shall leave nothing undone that is in my power to prepare the Regiment for any Service they may be thought fit to be employed on, and I can assure your Excellency that it will be highly agreeable to both Officers and Men to be employed on active Service. –
I shall give Captain McALPIN every Instruction, List, or papers Necessary for his information, relative to the Command your Excellency has been pleased to confer on him. –
I shall also Issue the Orders Agreeable to your Excellencys desire to the heads of the several parties, and to the Individuals who belong to no particular Body, to put themselves immediately under the Command and direction of Captain McALPIN.
Inclosed herewith I transmit the returns of Arms Regimentals &c to Compleat the Regiment to its Establishment, which I take to be your Excellencys wish.
I have not mentioned Tents, or Camp Equipage, tho they [are] wanting for the whole Regiment – but should your Excellency think them Necessary, I shall immediately forward them.
